One needs only to look at the latest headlines to get a sense of the war that is causing so much suffering in the world today. After extensive personal reflection, artists associated with HOW started to question, what we, based in Canada, could do to combat the complex struggles that are going on in the world.
The only answer we can find is to create. To write. To Sing. To play. To compose. To offer art to the world with one intention: a wish for peace. We can learn from the past, but we can not change it. World War One and many other wars of the past have taught that fear and hatred, revenge and killing, breed only more of the same. And in the same way, spreading messages of peace, love and harmony can also lead to more of the same.
The key is in instilling these positive messages to the youth of today. Our method is to engender a love and passion of creativity and collaboration. Our artistic presentations not only entertain, but empower audiences to engage in their own form of creative expression.
Our call to action is for artists and art lovers of the world to start planting seeds of hope and create messages of peace. The world needs healing.
Because HOW is connected to the hundredth anniversary of World War One and 100=C in Roman Numerals, HOW Coined its Cause Creatively:
Collectively commemorating courage through creativity and countering conflict with culture.
